Student Data & Consent
Effective September 22, 2026 · Scout Stream, Inc.
Scout Stream serves student-athletes in grades 9–12. We do not create accounts for children under 13.
Being on a roster is not being visible
A coach adding an athlete to a team puts them on that school's roster and nowhere else. Two separate things have to be granted before anyone outside the school sees anything:
- Recruiting visibility — the profile, statistics and highlights may be found and viewed by verified college recruiters.
- Academic data — grade point average may be shown. Off by default, and separate from the above.
Both are granted by a parent or guardian, both are recorded against a policy version, and both can be withdrawn at any time. Withdrawing one takes that surface private immediately. If a consent cannot be confirmed — for any reason, including a technical fault — the profile stays private. The system refuses rather than guesses.
What a guardian can do
- See what has been collected about their child.
- Turn any consent on or off.
- Delete their child's account. Deletion cascades to derived data — leaderboards, search indexes, ad candidate sets and clips.
Video
A school confirms it holds the rights to broadcast its games and that participants have agreed to being recorded. Where a stream incidentally captures athletes from a visiting school, those athletes are not indexed and are not made individually discoverable. Playback always runs on signed, expiring, viewer-bound links, even where watching is free.
No profiling, no AI analysis of students
Highlight clips are produced by arithmetic on the timestamps a scorekeeper recorded during the game. No video recognition is run on students, no behavioral profile is built, and no automated decision is made about any student.
Advertising
Ads on Scout Stream are contextual: school, sport, boys or girls, region, placement, and whether the stream is live or a replay. There is no viewer profile and no cross-session tracking. The systems that choose an ad hold no access at all to student records — that is enforced by database permissions, not by policy alone.
For schools
A school joins under a School Onboarding Agreement and the SDPC National Data Privacy Agreement, under which the school is the controller of its students' records and Scout Stream is the processor, acting on the school's instructions. The school keeps ownership of its data. We handle it under FERPA and applicable state student privacy laws.
