Privacy Policy
Effective September 22, 2026 · Scout Stream, Inc.
Scout Stream is a live streaming, statistics and recruiting platform for high school athletics. Most of the people whose information we handle are students in grades 9–12, which is why this policy is shorter on what we collect and longer on what we refuse to do with it.
What we never do
- No behavioral advertising. Ads are chosen from what is on the page you are looking at — school, sport, boys or girls, region, ad placement, live or replay, and the filter you picked this session. Nothing else.
- No viewer profile, and no identity graph. We do not build a record of you across sessions, devices or sites, and we do not buy or sell one.
- No AI analysis of students. Highlight clips are cut by arithmetic from the timestamps a scorekeeper recorded, not by video recognition. No automated decision is made about any student.
- No accounts for children under 13. Scout Stream is for grades 9–12.
- We do not sell personal information.
What we collect
Athletes
Name, school, team, sport, position, graduation year, height and weight, jersey number, a profile photo if one is added, statistics recorded by school staff during games, and video in which the athlete appears. Grade point average is collected only where a school enters it and is shown only with a separate active consent.
Coaches, school staff and college recruiters
Name, institutional email address, job title, sport and the school or program they work for. College recruiter listings may also be compiled from public directory information.
Fans and viewers
An email address and a display name if you create an account, the schools and athletes you choose to follow, and aggregate measurements of stream and page performance.
Everyone
Sign-in and security records, and the technical information a web request necessarily carries (IP address, browser type) used to keep the platform available and secure.
Why we use it
- To run the service — rosters, live scores, streams, highlights and recruiting tools.
- To keep accounts and minors safe: verification, abuse prevention, security monitoring.
- To bill schools and to pay partners.
- To show contextual ads and sponsor placements, as described above.
- To meet legal obligations.
Consent, and what it controls
Being on a roster is not the same as being visible to recruiters. An athlete profile is reachable by college coaches only when a parent or guardian has granted recruiting visibility, and academic data only with its own separate consent. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, and withdrawing it takes the corresponding surface private immediately. If a consent cannot be verified for any reason, the profile stays private — the system refuses rather than guesses.
Who we share it with
Schools see their own students. College recruiters see only athletes whose consent is active. Service providers who run parts of the platform on our behalf — video delivery, payment processing, email, cloud hosting — receive only what their function requires and may not use it for anything else. We also disclose information where the law requires it.
Advertisers receive counts. They never receive a viewer, an athlete or a student record.
How long we keep it
Accounts and profiles are kept while the account is active. Game recordings are kept for the period included in the school's plan, after which they are deleted; highlight clips saved from a game are kept independently of the game they came from. Financial records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.
Your rights
You may ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. A parent or guardian may do all three on behalf of their child, and may delete their child's account outright — deletion cascades to derived data, including leaderboards, search indexes and clips. Write to us at the address below and we will respond within the period the applicable law allows.
Student education records are also governed by FERPA and by state student privacy laws, under which the school is the controller of its students' records and Scout Stream acts as a processor on the school's instructions, under a signed data privacy agreement.
Security
Access to a student record is checked on every request rather than assumed from a link. Tenancy — the boundary between one school's data and another's — is enforced in the database itself, not only in application code. Video playback runs on signed, expiring, viewer-bound links. Multi-factor authentication is available, and required for recruiting and administrative accounts. Our security program follows the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.
Changes
If we change this policy materially we will say so in the app and ask you to acknowledge it, rather than relying on continued use.
